JU celebrates annual campus sports day

JAMMU: University of Jammu on Friday organised annual campus sports day to mark the valedictory function of the various inter-department activities as also events for teachers and officers held on the campus, here.

In the valedictory function, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh was Chief Guest, who gave away title trophies to winning departments amidst applause from the distinguished gathering of faculty members, officers and students.

He told gathering that a world class cricket stadium will be constructed in Jammu Province adding that an IIT had already sanctioned at Nagrota by the Central Government. He also stressed upon the construction of lake on Tawi site.

To give away the prizes, Dr Singh was joined by Vice Chancellor of JU, Prof R.D Sharma and Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor, who presided over the function, was all praise for the Campus Sports Committee for making inter-department activities an annual feature thus involved students in sports.

A few entertaining activities for the teachers and other staff members also took place in addition to the colourful cultural programme.

Earlier, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished gathering.

Later, Incharge PTI Campus, Gagan Kumar presented vote of thanks. Proceedings were conducted by Deepmala Kotwal and Sangeeta Bhat.

Among others present were Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Research, Prof. Posh Charak, Prof. Desh Bandhu (CDC), Controller of Examinations, Prof. Keshav Sharma, Rector,Kathua Campus, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Provost Hostels, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director, DIQA, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, J.K Sharma and Director, DDE,  Prof. VD Singh.
