JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation on Friday seized five trucks load of material and Rehris, which were placed on footpaths and pavements by the shopkeepers and vendors.
The Chief Enforcement Officer along with field staff of Enforcement Wing undertook an extensive anti-encroachment drive with the help of police from Warehouse and Bus Stand in various areas of Jammu city including Bikram Chowk, Jewel Chowk, Indira Chowk and Shalamar. The drive was organised to clear the footpaths and pavements from the encroachments made by the shopkeepers and vendors by keeping goods, articles and Rehris thereby causing inconvenience to the pedestrians.
The corporation appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their premises without breaching the building line to avoid seizure of their articles and penalty for such defaults. The Rehri owners are also asked to keep their Rehris mobile as the stationary Rehris are source of obstruction for the free flow of vehicular traffic and also cause inconvenience to the pedestrians.
