JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation on Thursday demolished platforms (Pacca Tharas) constructed over the drains which is a main cause of choking of drains especially during rainy season.
The JMC team launched the drive in Nai Basti area wherein platforms constructed over drains were demolished. During the drive, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was also present and informed shopkeepers and general public as well that Nai Basti area shall be developed at par with Raghunath Bazar.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation extended thanks to the shopkeepers and general public for coordinating with the Corporation during the drive. He appealed to the general public not to construct platforms over drains for avoiding choking of drains, as the choking is the main cause of in-sanitary conditions in Jammu City. During the drive Commissioner JMC was accompanied by R.S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), Rajesh Gupta, Kamni Kesar, Chief Enforcement Officers and Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport Officer, JMC.
