JAMMU: Intensifying drive against encroachments, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Friday demolished encroachments at Bakshi Nagar and Shakti Nagar areas and seized three truck-load of unauthorized material placed on the roadside.
The Enforcement Wing of JMC removed encroachments at Bakshi Nagar and Shakti Nagar areas of Jammu City that were not removed despite repeated warnings to the violators and seized three truck-load of material including counters, crates and grills that were placed by the shopkeepers on roadside causing hindrance to free flow of traffic.
The JMC appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their premises without breaching the building line to avoid seizure of their articles and penalty for such defaults. The drive was conducted with the help of police from Police Station Bakshi Nagar.
Meanwhile, JMC organised a sanitation drive at Ward No. 40 in Talab Tillo. The drive was held under the direction of Soujanya Sharma, Commissioner JMC. During the drive Sat Sharma (C.A), MLA, Jammu West was also present.
Sat also inaugurated a specialized vehicle for de-silting on Nallahs. The de-silting vehicle is expected to improve the carrying capacity of the Nallahs and free flow of water during rainy season.
The team also visited Durga Nagar, Kamla Palace lane in Bharat Nagar, wherein a number of people took up their grievances and problems with MLA and JMC Commissioner.
The problems highlighted included immediate black-topping of Talab Tillo Main Road and Kamla Palace Link Road, construction of proper Nallah from Akhnoor Road to Poonch House passing along Kamla palace link road, provision of water taps in Durga Nagar Cremation Ground, thorough de-silting of the Nallah flowing from Shakti Nagar cremation ground to Kabir Colony through Talab Tillo.
Sat also announced the installation of 250 KV new electric transformer.
