JMC demolishes 6 structures, removes encroachments

JAMMU: Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a day long extensive tour in the areas Gandhi Nagar, Chatha, Satwari, Bandu Rakh, Channi, Trikuta Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Ware House, Bakshi Nagar and Dogra Hall etc. to take stock of the Municipal assets and other related issues on spot.
During the visit the Municipal Commissioner ordered demolition of structures raised on the path way and on the Municipal land at Gandhi Nagar and Jeevan Nagar (Satwari). On this the Enforcement Staff demolished the six
structures by pressing the men and machinery into service and removed the encroachments.
While visiting the Municipal land sites at Chatha and Bandu Rakh the Commissioner directed the Engineer Wing to prepare the DPRs so that the land is utilized for some useful purpose. She also inspected the land reclaimed along the Nallahs at Channi Himmat, Deeli and directed the concerned Officers to ensure that the same is not encroached upon and submit a proposal for the development of the same.
Further, the Municipal Commissioner also inspected the various sites to redress the complaints filed by the different persons regarding unauthorized constructions, violation of land use, in-sanitary conditions, construction of lanes and drains, upgradation and maintenance of Municipal parks and redressed the problems on spot by issuing necessary directions to the concerned Officers in this regard.
The residents of the localities as well as complainants appreciated the steps taken by the Municipal Commissioner for redressing their grievances on spot. R. S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), Subah Mehta Asstt. Commissioner (R), Joint Commissioner (Works), Executive Engineers, Chief Enforcement Officer, Enforcement Officer, Asstt. Ex. Engineers, Naib Tehsildar (R) and staff of different sections accompanied the Municipal Commissioner during the tour.
