SRINAGAR: While maintaining that government has initiated several schemes for upgradation of the health infrastructure in the state, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat, Ali Mohammad Sagar said that necessary steps have already been undertaken so that Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital comes up as a tertiary care hospital.
The minister was addressing the medical superintendents of JLNM, Gousia Hospital and PHC SR Gunj during a review meeting of Rogi Kalyaan Samiti here on Tuesday. It was attended by the Medical Superintendents of JLNM, Gousia Hospital and ZMO Srinagar.
The minister said that it has been the endeavour of the government to ensure that the people get quality health care facilities.
Sagar said several schemes have also been launched which have been responsible for ensuring health care benefits are extended to people in the city as well as rural areas. He said that under National Health Mission, government has introduced several programmes which have contributed a lot in upgradation of the health infrastructure and also in extending various benefits to the people.
The meeting was told that 72,215 patients have been treated in JLNM Hospital up to 1st September, 2014 whereas 2,121 major and minor surgeries have been done and 40,112 blood tests have also been conducted.
Similarly, in PHC S R Gunj 23,569 patients have been treated in OPD, 74 minor surgeries done, 5,447 lab tests undertaken and Rs. 2,33,250 have been generated as HDF whereas 721 ultrasounds have also been performed, 4,064 immunisation doses have been imparted, 445 x-rays have also been done.
It was also given out that in Gousia Hospital, 18,396 patients have been treated, 1,113 major and 784 minor besides 562 cataract surgeries performed. Similarly, 49,081 tests have been performed, 4,575 ultrasounds and 6,442 x-rays done besides 69,997 immunisation doses have been imparted.
Later, the minister inaugurated the Tehsil Office at Khanyar and laid foundation stone of Sub District Magistrates office at Baghi Dilawar Khan. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah and other senior officers of district administration.
While interacting with the people, the minister said that these would go a long way in ensuring that the governance reaches to the ground level and people get requisite facilities within their respective areas. He said that by setting up of different administrative units in various parts of the state the pace of development of these will be speeded up and the implementation of various welfare programmes would be fast paced.
