JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) has earned revenue of Rs 33.39 crores in the three quarters of the current fiscal compared to Rs 29.28 crores revenue earned for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. According to the Management of the Corporation, despite unrest in Kashmir during the summers, JKTDC witnessed 55 per cent occupancy in establishments located in the Valley and 37 per cent in Jammu during the period. Expressing satisfaction over the encouraging increase in the revenues of the corporation, Managing Director JKTDC, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Sunday said the corporation has a huge outstanding with various government departments especially the Home Department right from 1990, when the turmoil erupted in Kashmir and efforts are on to expedite recoveries.
“The recovery of these arrears would give a big boost to the financial health of the Corporation,” he said and lauded the employees of the corporation for putting in their best efforts to make it a vibrant organisation.
In various new initiatives launched by the corporation to boost revenues, a dedicated website provides a convenient booking platform for tourists showcasing tourist destinations and attractions across the State, he said adding that the website also contains information of latest packages and discounts for customers and offers for tourism promotion.
“The corporation has taken various steps for the welfare of the employees and their kin that energised the potential of the officials to work with sincerity and dedication,” he said.
