JAMMU: Dussehra was celebrated at JK Public School (JKPS) Panjtirthi with religious spirit and devotion.
The celebration was organized to educate students about the cultural and mythological significance of the festival and to promote values of truth, righteousness, and the victory of good over evil.
The celebration began with a brief introduction about the importance of the Day, followed by a series of vibrant cultural performances by Jakiians. The highlight of the program was a beautifully enacted Ramayana skit, showcasing scenes from Lord Rama’s life, including his victory over the demon king Ravana. Students dressed up as various characters from Ramayana mesmerised the audience with their performances.
Students also presented group dances and songs based on devotional and folk themes, adding rhythm and color to the festivities. Traditional attire, colorful decorations, and handcrafted effigies of Ravana created a festive atmosphere throughout the school campus.
The Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi Suman Banbah expressed, “Dussehra offers a unique opportunity to learn about our rich culture and heritage while having loads of fun. Dussehra isn’t just about watching the effigies of Ravana burn; it’s a time for children to understand the importance of virtues like truth, courage, and righteousness.”
