JAMMU: A special felicitation ceremony was organized to honor the passionate endeavours of students hailing from Grades 6 to 12, who participated in a unique initiative celebrating the lives of India’s gallantry award winners-our real-life heroes under the aegis of CBSE-led Veer Gatha Project 4.0. The students sounded incredibly inspired by the act of valour and bravery, exhibited by our Bravehearts. They gave vent to their poignant reflections and shared their learning outcomes based on the courageous lives of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardees, namely, Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey, Major Somnath Sharma, Company Qtr Mstr Havildar Abdul Hamid, Major Shaitan Singh, Capt Vikram Batra, Lt Arun Khetrapal & L/N Yogendra Singh Yadav.
The ceremony took place in the School Assembly area, comprising students of Grades VI to XII, filled with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Members of the staff graced the occasion to witness the young minds being recognized for their thought-provoking utterances.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of special gifts to the students. Each participant received a beautifully curated book dedicated to the stories of gallantry award winners, focusing on the brave soldiers who were honored with the Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, and Shaurya Chakra. These books served not only as tokens of appreciation but also as a source of inspiration for the students, to remind them of the values of courage, sacrifice, and service to the nation.
The Principal JKPS Kunjwani, in his opening remarks, praised the students for their dedication and the depth of insight they had shown in understanding the lives of these brave soldiers. He emphasized the importance of learning from the heroes who selflessly served the nation and encouraged the students to incorporate those values into their own lives.
He reflected, “My beloved students, I’m sure, you must be feeling agog with excitement at having read and heard the tales of exceptional valour of these Bravehearts, the recipients of Param Vir Chakra (PVC), Maha Vir Chakra (MVC), Vir Chakra (VC), Shaurya Chakra (SC) etc. You can’t go to the battle field right now to display your heroic deeds and patriotism, being students. However, you can identify your enemies within you, namely, procrastination, indolence, insincerity, poor time management, casual attitude, short concentration span, and the like and conquer them. True wisdom lies in the fact that you reinforce your strength areas and overcome your weaknesses/fears through consistent efforts”.
The ceremony was not just recognition of the students’ academic efforts but also a celebration of values that these brave soldiers embodied. The event left a lasting impact on everyone present, reminding them of the immense sacrifices made by our real-life heroes and the lessons we can learn from their lives.
The school plans to continue this initiative in the coming years, aiming to instill a sense of pride and responsibility in the young generation for their country.
