JKPCC seeks probe into murder of minor nomad girl

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) expressed concern over the failure of State Government to ensure confidence amongst the local people of village Rasana- Hiranagar about the fairness and credibility of the investigation into the heinous crime of alleged rape and murder of a minor nomad girl, as a result there is every apprehension of situation taking ugly turn, unless timely steps are taken in this regard. Reacting to the situation emerging in the area, senior Congress leaders said that law should take its own course and anyone involved in this heinous crime against humanity, irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion should be given the deterrent punishment. There can’t be any sympathy with anyone involved in this crime but at the same time no innocent should get implicated or unnecessarily involved, they added. They said that it is the total failure of PDP-BJP Government to handle the situation and instill sense of confidence about fairness, impartiality and credibility of the probe as a result of which atmosphere is getting vitiated.
They said that justice should not only be done but should appear to have been done and in view of the barbaric crime as well as the probability of its getting religious colour, it would in the larger interest of all sections of the society that an independent probe is held into the incident, so that no one can raise fingers about findings of such an investigation and those who may try to take advantage of the situation, do not succeed in their designs. The signatories to the statement included Dr Manohar Lal Sharma (Ex-MLA) General Secretary PCC, Th Balbir Singh (MLC), Subash Gupta (Ex-MLC) DCC President, G.L Chalotra (Ex-MLA), Rajnish Sharma-Co-treasurer, Secretaries PCC Pankaj Dogra, Anuradha Andhotra, Nirdosh Sharma and Kulbir sSingh Pathania.
