JAMMU: The Congress on Thursday paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary with senior leaders saying the whole country still gives the example of her impressive leadership.
Led by senior Congress leader and JKPCC Vice President Raman Bhalla, General Secretary JKPCC Manmohan Singh, Distt President Urban Yogesh Sawhney, Mahila Wing J&K President Indu Pawar paid rich tributes to late Prime Minister at party Headquarter in Jammu today. Prominent among those present on the occasion include PYC President Uday Banu Singh Chib , Th. Shiv Dev Singh, Col. Sawran Singh Gurdarshan Singh, Pawan Raina, Suresh Dogra, Gajan Singh, Rajveer Singh, Vijay Singh Chib, Dr. Ramankant Khajuria, Satish Sharma, Jatin Vashisht, Satpal Sapolia, Thomas Khokar, Mikel wazir, Madan Lal Malagar, Vinay Sharma, Vijay Ch, Sanjeev Panda, Uttam Singh Chib, Rakesh Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Chander Shekhar Sharma, Atul Sharma, Manmohan Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Recky Dalotra, Gurmeet Singh, Nasir Wazir, Rajinder Singh Jamwal and Kamal Singh. Paying his tributes to late Prime Minister, Bhalla said “A trailblazer, a visionary, a true leader and a great daughter of our motherland, Indira Gandhi was much more than a Prime Minister to our citizens; she was the revitalising strength in their quest for greatness & prosperity. Today, we pay a proud tribute to India’s Indira,” Bhalla said.
“The whole country still gives the example of her impressive leadership. Her teachings inspire us constantly,” the former Minister said.
“Her unflinching dedication and determination towards the nation’s progress and her indomitable courage to overcome the most difficult circumstances serves as an inspiration to us,” he said.
Bhalla while paying floral tributes to Smt. Indira Gandhi remembered her supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the nation.
He said that Gandhi created history by providing an able and dynamic leadership to the Country and was acknowledged a strong and visionary leader in the world. She will always be remembered as a leader of masses with strong commitment to the upliftment of poor and down trodden and devotion to the cause of nation and did not succumb against any pressures at the cost of the unity and integrity of the nation.
He recalled her historical contributions in the form of Shimla agreement, which binds Pakistan to settle all outstanding issues with India including Kashmir through bilateral means, strengthening of Non Aliened Movement (NAM) in the World, besides librating Bangladesh for which her leadership was commended.
He said that Congressmen should remain committed and strengthen the principles for which Indira lived and sacrificed her life.
Bhalla said that the recently amended J&K land laws are anti people, anti-poor and anti Jammu. He described this move of BJP Govt. as their sheer frustration and deviation from what Shri Narinder Modi, the Prime Minister of the Country promised to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Bhala reminded BJP of the promises made by Shri Modi about the safety and guarantee of jobs and land of Jammu and Kashmir, but did nothing. He said that these laws are discriminatory in nature and questioned the BJP’s one nation one constitution slogan, when, there are different land laws in Himachal Pradesh , Uttra khand and North-eastern states of India. He warned the government not to test the patience of peace loving citizens of Jammu and Kashmir by snatching their land and jobs. He demanded an immediate review of these laws ensuring guarantee and safety of the land and resources of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Uday Banu Singh Chib recalled her role as a leader of international repute, who raised the esteem of the nation by her foresighted decisions and dynamic leadership, he said.”Known as the Iron lady across the world, the one with determination, courage and amazing ability, the first and only woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi still remembered by crores of Indians alike.
