JKPCC condemns BJP Govt over detention of Rahul Gandhi

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: JKPCC strongly condemned the BJP Governments at the Centre and Madhya Pradesh for the illegal detention and arrest of AICC Vice President, Rahul Gandhi today and described it as highly undemocratic and dictatorial action in the largest democracy of the world.
Reacting sharply to the denial of entry, detention and arrest of Rahul Gandhi, who was on way to express solidarity with the agitating farmers and express sympathies and condolences to the families of those killed in police firing in MP, the JKPCC President G.A Mir and all senior leaders, rank and file of the party in the State expressed full support to their leader and strongly criticised the highly undemocratic and dictatorial attitude of BJP Governments towards the opposition in democracy.
In an emergent meeting, the senior leadership of the party has described it as totally unacceptable in a democracy where the political parties especially opposition has a role to play to highlight the plight of people.
The Congress Party has always remained committed to the cause of farmers of this country who are the backbone of the progress and prosperity of this nation. It was Congress Party Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi who launched struggle for the rights of farmers on the issue of land acquisition and ultimately the Modi government had to succumb, Mir added.
The pick and choose policy of BJP to grant loan waiver selectively in one state or states for political benefits and spray bullets on farmers in other state/states, is highly deplorable.
Those who charge Congress of playing politics over the issue, are unfortunately exposing themselves, as political parties owe a duty towards democracy and people and if to extend support to the agitating farmers and express sympathies with families of those killed in government, action, is unjustified, then it will be very unfortunate situation for this country, he added.
