JKPCC chief launches football academy

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee GA Mir on Wednesday launched first Footbal Academy ‘Jammu United Football Club’ in Jammu and also its membership drive, hoping to unearth young talent to help Jammu and Kashmir football.
“We and the people of Jammu and Kashmir are excited with his initiative and we extend all our support to the club,” Mir said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir said that he’s confident of nurturing a handful of talents in his academy and make them worthy of playing in the national and international soccer leagues.
He said the youth of the State are bestowed with abundant talent in sports and only need an opportunity to excel.
Mir said he was happy to see J-K’s young boys and girls emerging on the sports arena with flying colours and bringing laurels to the State.
He further said young players, who displayed their talent at international level recently, are examples to show that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been bestowed with abundant talent which needs just an opportunity to excel.
He said that youth of J and K are strong enough to compete in any game including football but due to lack of facilities, they remain behind.
PCC President congratulated Narinder Gupta, Chairman of the Club and his colleagues for setting up of first Footbal Academy which will go a long way to attract youth towards games, especially football which is the most popular game in the world. It will also help the youth to remain away from bad habits including drugs etc.
He asked the present government to take steps for promoting sports and upgrading sports infrastructure in a big way in the State so that the youth of the State make the name of the State at national and international level.
He appreciated the members of the club and wished them to nurture and develop young players in a proper and professional way so that they can make a profession out of the game.
Narinder Gupta, Chairman of the Club, said that he himself is a football player and wants to encourage the youth towards football game and that’s why he set up the academy near GGM Science College Ground and it will provide all sorts of facilities to interested youth free of cost.
Other members of the club present were Amerjit Singh, Sadesh Sharma, Asok Kumar, Pravez Iqbal Mir, Ankush Gupta, Manohar Babber, Vijay Kumar, Suresh Gujpta, Mukesh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Rajesh |Sambyal and Chetan Sharma.
