JKP lose to CISF as semis position cleared

JAMMU: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Monday lost at the quarterfinals stages of the ongoing 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship under the banner of All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) at K K Hakku Stadium, here.
With JKP loss to the formidable side of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) 1-5, semifinals lineup has been drawn with defending champion, Punjab Police, Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) winning respective games.
Yograj Singh turned the game in favour of CISF netting two goals, including the first blood. Vishaljit Singh also scored two goals while other goal came through Dheeraj Vats. Yograj was later declared player of the match which was presented by Vijay Kumar, ADGP Armed and Law and Order, J&K.
On the other hand, the champion side of Punjab Police blanked West Bengal Police beating latter by 10 goals. Kanwarjeet Singh scored four goals to be named player of the match.
In other quarterfinals of the day, BSF trounced Uttar Pradesh Police 2-1 while CRPF clinched the thriller against ITBP via tie-breaker. Earlier, during the stipulated time, the match ended in a 4-4 draw. Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekananda Rai was special guest in this match, who awarded Shamsher with player of the match trophy.
Now, in the semifinals, CISF shall be playing against Punjab Police while BSF shall meet CRPF tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in the women section, semifinals position has also been cleared with CRPF, SSB, Odisha Police and Tamil Nadu placed in the last four stages of the competition.
FIXTURE: MEN: CISF V/s Punjab Police at 11.30 am and BSF V/s CRPF at 1.30 pm. WOMEN: CRPF V/s Tamil Nadu Police at 1.30 pm and Odisha Police V/s SSB at 3.30 pm.
