JKP to host 65th All India Police Hockey Championship

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police will host 65th All India Police Hockey Championship-2016 from 10th December. The championship would last for seven days and would conclude on 16th December, 2016.
Additional Director General of Police Armed (ADGP), L Mohanti today reviewed the arrangements at a meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters here.
Mohanti said that more than 25 national teams representing different States and Central Police Organizations of the country would be participating in the seven days long championship.
The championship would be played at different venues in Jammu city.
ADGP also said that JKP is participating in various national sports events in different disciplines including All India Police Football Championship, All India Police Wrestling Cluster and National Athletic Meet.
All these national championships are being held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board, he added.
The ADGP said that sports activities help to promote the talent of police personnel, besides providing opportunity to the sports lovers particularly the youth of the State to witness national level competitions in the State.
Praising the JKP personals, ADGP said that they have bagged many laurels for the Organization and the State.
Besides national level championships, the Organization has been organizing a series of sports activities in different parts of the State within and outside the department to promote sports culture.
Other than discussing arrangements for the prestigious championship, the ADGP ordered constitution of various committees and finalised venues for the championship.
The boarding and lodging of the outside teams was also discussed in the meeting and it was decided that convenient accommodation and other facilities would be provided to the visiting teams and the management.
The ADGP stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and utilize experiences of holding events of similar nature for making championship a success.
He also asked the officers to identify the outstanding players of the department who can represent the Organization in the national level championship.
Among others, the meeting was also attended by IsGP, M. Sulaiman Salaria, Yoginder Koul, Danish Rana and Shafakat Watali, DIsGP, Alok Kumar and Ashkoor Wani, Kulbir Singh, SSsP, Sunil Kumar, Ashok Sharma, Mohan Lal, Yasin Kichloo, AK Angral, Anita Sharma, Tasbasum Parveen, Rashmi Wazir, Sham Sunder, Commandants of Armed/IRP Bns, Medical Supdt, Wasiq Rasool, Dy.SsP, Junaid Wali, Zahoor Ahmed and other police officers.
