JAMMU: Expressing indignation over MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania moving scot free after ruthlessly assaulting a school teacher in HSS Basantgarh in Ramnagar, Gagan Pratap Singh, Spokesman Panthers Party demanded immediate registration of FIR against the delinquent legislator.
Deploring the bizarre felony offence committed by MLA Ramnagar, Gagan Pratap, while addressing a press conference here, lambasted R.S Pathania for trespassing into Higher Secondary School Basantgarh on June 21 with his PSOs with a motive to hold tests of teachers by questioning them.
He said that the legislator stormed into one of the classrooms and in the process of screening caught hold of one teacher named Pritam Singh and abused him for lacking expertise in his subject in front of the students.
“When the teacher resisted the MLA while saying that he knew his subject well, the latter lost his control and hurled choicest of abuses on the teacher and called the police inside the classroom. In an unprecedented episode police not only made unauthorised entry into the class room but manhandled the teacher at the behest of the MLA and physically assaulted him before throwing him out of the school premises”, Gagan regretted.
Gagan said that 31 students of class 9th of the said school who were left shell shocked after witnessing the entire episode duly submitted their statements to the ZEO Dudu clearly stating that their teacher Pritam Singh was assaulted by MLA and his armed gunmen in the class-room.
He regretted that rather than taking action against delinquent MLA, the aggrieved teacher was deployed to HSS Chhatrari by CEO Udhampur under the political pressure leaving the students of the school also to academically suffer. He further divulged that 150 students of HSS Basantgarh had also submitted a joint representation to the DC Udhampur complaining about criminal conduct of the MLA and seeking repatriation of the aggrieved teacher at the earliest but failed to elicit response from the district administration.
Rebuking the MLA for unleashing a reign of terror in Ramnagar and large scale harassment of employees as well as the poor people, he said that it was a glaring instance in the education system that an MLA had heckled and dragged the teacher out of the school by using policemen and gun wielding PSOs.
Pratap sought revocation of the politically motivated deployment of Pritam Singh besides immediate registration of FIR against the malefactor MLA who was moving scot free after brutally assaulting a teacher. He also demanded his resignation saying that the MLA has lost his moral right to continue in the office in view of the brazen offences committed by him.
