JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) protested against the inexplicable delay in initiation of the construction work over Basantgarh-Khaned Road in Dudu Basantgarh Block of District Udhampur.
Dozens of Panthers Party activists led by Provincial President, Rajesh Padgotra on Saturday assembled outside the Office of Chief Engineer Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and held a demonstration seeking early action on construction work over Basantgarh-Khaned Road.
Padgotra lambasted the concerned authorities for the failure to address the demand of the people inhabiting the far flung areas of Dudu Basantgarh Block who had been deprived of road communication link.
“The construction of Basantgarh-Khaned Road had got approved by Harsh Dev Singh during his tenure as MLA at a cost of Rs 8 crore so as to provide connectivity to the far flung villages,” he said and claimed that the said road was proposed to provide the connectivity to the villages of Mang, Sang, Punara, Khaned besides benefitting the adjoining villages of Loudra and Punara.
He however lamented the inaction of the concerned authorities during the last 15 months resulting in deprivation to the public of the benefits of the scheme.
He further called for immediate tendering of Loudra and Raichak Kadwa Roads for providing connectivity to the said habitations.
He warned of intensifying the protests in case the concerned department did not take immediate action in this regard.
Others present were Khajoor Singh, Inderpal Singh, Purshotam Parihar, Anil Rakwal, N.P Singh and Ravinder Jamwal.
