JKMEF holds protest, projects demands

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) on Thursday held a protest at Directorate of Health Services (DHS) complex in support of their long pending demands.
Large number of employees from all the offices of the Jammu District participated in the protest and expressed their anguish on the part of authorities for not fulfilling the genuine demands of the employees.
Addressing the gathering, Sushil Sudan, President JKMEF highlighted the demands including amendment in SRO-20, regularisation of remaining adhoc, contractual and consolidated employees, creation and up-gradation of posts of district pharmacy officer and block pharmacy officers, FTA of field officer (malaria) to be enhanced from Rs 45 to Rs 1,000 per month, DPC meeting to be held twice in the year regularly and promotions accorded strictly as per seniority.
Sudan also demanded over time allowance to the employees who are performing 12 hours night duty, grade of male and female multipurpose health workers be up-graded and FMPHWs be also considered for promotion of health educators, creation of posts of LHV in all PHCs, posts of section officers be created in all CMO offices, posts of head assistants at block level in Jammu Division and dental tech posts be created in all block levels.
He also demanded 25 per cent quote to be fixed for training of class IV employees for different para medical courses as departmental candidates on the basis of their relaxation of qualification bar of 12th with science, removal of pay anomalies, pay scale of CHOs to be brought at par with central grade and filling up of posts of CHO in new PHCs. The medial officer at new PHC level be degraded with DDO powers and designated as Zonal Medical Officer, two and half day pay incentive, enhancement of pay scale of junior staff nurses, risk allowance, increase in uniform duty allowance, enhancement in the risk allowance of X-ray technicians from Rs 120 to Rs 1,000, creation of posts of dental and x-ray technicians at block headquarters and regularisation of all NRHM staff, were the other demands projected by Sudan. He warned that in case said demands are not fulfilled
within 15 days then district-wise Dharna will be held for
which the authorities will be responsible.

Hamid Bhat, Neeraj Sharma and Narinder Tony.
