JAMMU: Well-knit Jammu and Kashmir drubbed formidable Chandigarh by 4 wickets in the ongoing practice matches as part of JKCA’s Preparatory Camp for Senior Women’s T20 Team at JKCA Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Chandigarh managed to score a modest total of 100 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process.
Almost all the J&K bowlers showed discipline and hit right areas to restrict the rival team to a modest total.
Shivani Thakur top scored with 44 runs off 43 balls, studded with 3 boundaries, while Shivangi Yadav and Aaradana Bisht contributed 17 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
For Jammu and Kashmir, left-arm medium pacer Sarla Devi was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 3 wickets by conceding 19 runs in her 4 overs, while right-arm speedster Bismah Hassan bagged 2 wickets in her 4 overs giving away 17 runs. Skipper Sandhya Sayal and Nadia Chowdhary claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K chased the target in 19.2 overs by losing 6 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 5 wickets.
Explosive middle-order batter Rubia Syed top scored with 36 runs off 29 balls, studded with 5 delectable boundaries, while Sarla Devi scored unbeaten 21 runs off 23 balls with one boundary. Anju Tomar also contributed valuable 16 runs to the total, while Bawandeep Kour and Shivanti Gupta chipped in with 8 runs each.
For Chandigarh, Priyanka Guleria took 2 wickets, while Nandani Sharma, Kashyee Gautam and Parul Saini claimed one wicket each.
Sarla Devi and Rubia Syed were the standout performers for J&K, who showed stellar grit and tenacity in their application. The match was officiated by Deepak Gupta and Sapna Jamwal as Umpires, while Ashwani Sharma and Aditya were the scorers. Jammu and Kashmir team is accompanied by Rajesh Dhar and Rajni Sharma as Managers, while Chetan B Dhingra is the Head Coach and Nayna Kashyap as the Bowling Coach. Satika Sharma is the Trainer, while Lovely Bansal and Mujtaba Yousuf are the Physiotherapist and Video Analyst respectively.
