JAMMU, Feb 10: Ignoring the local talent, who strive hard amidst poor facilities round the year, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has imported the ‘rejected’ lot from states like Delhi and Saurashtra for one-day selection.
“Already exposed during the Ranji Trophy (four-day) Games this season by scoring a single half century after playing 18 innings, wicket-keeper batsman, Puneet Bisht has again been called for the one-day selections by the penal of selectors. This is sheer nonsense,” a senior cricketer said on the condition of anonymity.
“Earlier, the JKCA involved former Delhi cricketer and state subject, Mithun Manhas and made him coach-cum-captain of the state team in Ranji Trophy and Twenty20 games. And now, he is playing a key role in inviting two more outside cricketers, Puneet Bisht of Delhi and Abhishek Bhat of Saurashtra for the limited (one-day) overs games,” rued senior cricketer. In regular practice, the state cricketers, especially those from Jammu, are already facing lot of hardships in view of lack of infrastructural facilities in the Winter Capital. And, now the evolving trend of guest players has added to their tale of woes.
