Learn to be humble after success: Brig Gupta to cricketers

JAMMU: In a goodwill gesture, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Thursday accorded warm reception to Jammu and Kashmir U-16 Men’s team including support staff for emerging champions in the prestigious Balram Dass Ji Tandon Memorial Cricket Tournament held at Chandigarh recently.
After their return from Chandigarh, the team members’ were warmly received by Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA and other officials at JKCA Hostel ground and were garlanded in an impressive, colourful and well attended function.
‘High Tea’ was served among the team members on the occasion.
Best batter Shourya Chouhan and best bowler Jeevesh Gupta were presented good quality bats by JKCA on the occasion as a token of gratitude.
While motivating and encouraging the players, Brig Anil Gupta advised them to learn to be humble after every success.
He said, preserving the sanctity of the game and playing with the sporting spirit is the ‘mantra’ to succeed in sports and games.
Terming the young cricketers as the ambassadors, Brig Gupta said that the sportspersons are the messengers of peace, harmony and prosperity.
Head Coach of the team, Sameer Khajuria; Strength and Conditioning Coach, Amit Bargotra and Team Physio Dr Amir Malik were present on the occasion.
Prominent among others who attended the function were Vidhya Baskar, Chairman of JKCA Senior Selection Committee; Rajesh Dhar, Manager JKCA Senior Women’s team; Sandeep Singh Sunny, former First Class Cricketer and Co-Manager of Senior Men’s team; Vivek Khajuria, Curator JKCA and Mohit Puri, Logistics Incharge JKCA.
