JK witnessed development in all spheres: Bhalla

JAMMU: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla on Sunday asserted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive development in all spheres during last five and half years period .
He said government has taken several concrete measures to create durable infrastructure to upgrade the living standard of the people.
The minister said this while addressing series of large gatherings at Channi Himmat Sector-2, Bhawani Vihar in Trikuta Nagar, Dogiana, Rani Talab and Lower Gaddigarh after assessing development issues of the people of these localities, here on Sunday.
Managing Director, J and K Housing Board, Ram Paul Sharma and officials from PHE, PDD, R&B and JMC accompanied the Minister.
Bhalla said that government is fully aware of people’s development related problems, adding that in this regard a new master plan has been prepared to meet all developmental needs.
The minister asked the accompanied officers to bring new locality wise projects so that the people of the State are provided modern line basic facilities. He asked them to come up with effective strategy for early completion of ongoing mega projects taken in hand, adding that Government has earmarked huge funds in this regard.
Bhalla issued specific instructions to MD J and K Housing Board to immediately start the renovation work of Channi Himmat Sector-2 park, installation of 250 KV additional transformer, upgradation of lanes and drains with grating facilities and blacktopping of link roads.
The minister said that government has earmarked Rs. 17.87 crore for channelization of existing primary drains and construction of Housing Colony Barsati Nallah new secondary drains in Channi Himmat under JKUSDIP package.
Bhalla further informed that government has prepared a detailed project report of Rs. 65 crore for channelisation and modernisation of Barsati Nallahs of Sunjwan, Bathindi, Channi Himmat and Gangyal, adding that all the codal formalities for the project have been completed for early start of the project.
Regarding upgradation of drinking water supply in Bhawani Vihar in Trikuta Nagar, he informed that the a deep drill tube involving cost Rs. 3.5 crore including laying of water supply pipes in the locality is under progress, adding the ongoing work of tube well is nearing completion and would be commissioned within week time. He said after dedication of the tube well, there is no drinking water scarcity in the locality.
Responding to the other demands of the Bhawani Vihar people, the minister asked the JMC to construct the slabs over drains, remove garbage from the plot no. 542, install street lights in the left over area and replacement of those which are out of order. Regarding construction of lanes/bye-lanes of Bhawani Vihar, he asked JMC to prepare estimates and submit the same for funding so that the project could be stared for the benefits of general masses.
