J&K Tourist destinations showcased during TTF Kolkata

KOLKATA: A delegation of officers and representatives from Travel and Trade Industry J and K led by Director Tourism, Jammu, Sushma Chauhan, is participating in Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) being held from 8th to 10th July at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
Minister for Tourism, West Bengal, Goutam Dev inaugurated the Fair, wherein 27 State Tourism Departments/ Boards, nine international Tourism Boards and 300 Travel agents/ Tour operators are showcasing their tourism products and packages.
While addressing the media and travel trade bodies during the press conference, Sushma Chauhan said that three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh offer diverse tourism products to the people ranging from traditional ones like pilgrimage, leisure and contemporary like adventure, eco, golf, wellness and fast emerging border tourism.
She further informed that JK Tourism has started city and border tour buses for Shri Amarnath Yatris on pilot basis whereas border tour will be continued after the Yatra too, for the facilities of the tourists, due to overwhelming response to it.
“Security and safety of the visiting tourists is of prime importance for J and K Govt and necessary steps have been taken to make the stay of tourists comfortable and memorable so that they visit us again and again” she further added.
The objective behind the participation in the event is to showcase the tourism potential of three prime regions of the state besides tapping the international and national market including West Bengal in an enhanced and better way.
State delegation comprised of Dy. Director, Publicity, Jammu Er. S.K Attri and Dy. Director Enforcement Amarjeet Singh, Assistant Director Tourism, Katra Dr. Umesh Shan and C.B Koul from J and K Tourism Development Corporation urged the travel agents, travel writers and tour operators to promote J and K as a preferred tourist destination keeping in view the coming Durga Puja holidays.
Representatives of Travel trade organization put forth the demand to start new trains from Kolkotta to Jammu and to increase the frequency of Himgiri Express to facilitate the tourists .
Inaugural day of the event witnessed huge rush and visitors evinced keen interest in JK Tourism Stall duly represented by various travel trade associations from the three regions of the state. Publicity material and tour packages were distributed and discussed with the visitors. Travel trade associations have shown satisfaction over the response of the queries pouring in for J&K Tourism.
