BANGALORE: The contingent comprising of 780 students from various universities and affiliated colleges of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday visited the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) headquarters here and got vivid information on the Chandrayaan Land Rover, which embarked on successful journey to moon and India’s Satellite Missions.
The students witnessed the precision and dedication behind the remarkable achievement that marked a significant milestone in India’s space exploration endeavours.
As part of the immersive educational journey of the “College on Wheels”, a vision of Lieutenant Governor J&K UT & Chancellor University of Jammu Manoj Sinha, the students had a remarkable opportunity to meet the brilliant minds behind India’s lunar exploration at ISRO headquarters.
On Day-9 of the journey, the students interacted with key members of the ISRO team responsible for India’s journey to the moon. The interactive session provided a unique insight into the scientific and technological advancements, driving India’s space exploration efforts.
T. Subramanya Ganesh, Deputy Director at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), delivered a motivational talk to students, throwing light on the ISRO and ISTRAC activities. The talk, accompanied by a detailed PowerPoint presentation, focused on the intricate workings of satellites.
During the presentation, T. Subramanya Ganesh shared valuable insights into ISRO’s achievements and the pivotal role played by the Indian Space Research Organization in advancing space technology. He delved into the operational details of satellites, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of their functions and contributions to various fields.
The talk, organized by ISRO, was well-received by the students and mentors.

The students were enthralled to learn about the intricacies of lunar missions, technological challenges overcome by the ISRO team, and the future of space exploration. The interaction aimed to inspire and ignite the students’ curiosity in space technology.
Expressing his gratitude on behalf of all the Universities and affiliated colleges of J&K UT to ISRO for opening its doors to the students and fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry and exploration, Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai hoped that the visit of students at ISRO marks a pivotal moment in their educational journey, contributing to their broader understanding of India’s achievements in space science.
During the visit to ISRO, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai also presented memento to the officials of ISRO. The visit to ISRO was coordinated by Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Nodal Officer I, Dr. Shallu Sharma, Nodal Officer-II and Dr. Guneet Sudan, Nodal Officer-III.
University of Jammu, the nodal University for organizing the College on Wheels journey, believes that exposure to institutions like ISRO is crucial for nurturing a spirit of inquiry and innovation among students.
The “College on Wheels” program exemplifies the commitment of Higher Education Council, Government of J&K UT to provide transformative educational experiences that go beyond traditional boundaries.
This experience aligns with the College on Wheels’ mission to expose students to diverse educational opportunities and real-world experiences. The initiative seeks to empower students with knowledge and skills that extend beyond conventional classroom learning.
College on Wheels, an innovative educational initiative, fully funded by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is designed to provide students from different universities and colleges of J&K with learning experiences. The program aims to broaden students’ horizons by exposing them to diverse fields of knowledge and inspiring a passion for learning beyond traditional classroom settings. The contingent comprises of students along with their mentors and the administrative staff from the University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Cluster University of Jammu, Cluster University of Kashmir, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Kashmir, affiliated colleges of JU and KU, Delhi University and Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC), New Delhi.
The “Gyanodaya Express- College on Wheels”, was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station, Katra in Jammu and Kashmir on November 19.
