JAMMU: J and K Sikh Societies Amalgamate discussed socio-economic and political problems being faced by Sikhs and sought reservation of two Assembly Constituencies for PoK refugees and reservation of two seats in Legistive Council.
A meeting of J and K Sikh Societies Amalgamate was held under its Chief Patron Gurdeep Singh Sasan here on Monday.
Sasan castigated BJP-PDP Coalition Government for its failure to come to the expectation of the people and totally failed to mitigate true problems. He lambasted the government for cheating minorities and PoK refugees by making false promises with them during the recently held Assembly elections and now have been changed their face like chameleon.
Sasan alleged that Sikhs are being discriminated and are being given step motherly treatment by the present dispensation in the State and are feeling neglected, defeated and cheated. The meeting also ridiculed BJP for its dubious role regarding AIIMS and artificial lake project.
Sasans urged government to consider their genuine demands which include formation of Minority Commission by Amending NC Act 192, enactment of Anand Karaj Act for registration of Sikhs marriage, constitute J and K Welfare and Development Board for the PoK refugees/displaced persons, release financial package of Rs. 25 lakhs per family as recommended by previous State Government headed by Omar Abdullah, release funds for development of refugees camps, Minority Financial Corporation, representation to Sikhs in PSC, SSRB, judiciary, reservation in professional colleges, special drive for recruitment in central government departments and para-military forces and reservation of two Assembly Constituencies for PoK refugees and reservation of two seats in Legistive Council.
Among those who were present in the meeting include Capt. Prithpal Singh, Nain Singh, Hardev Singh, Surinder Singh Advocate, Baldev Singh, Jagpal Singh, Rajinder Singh, Surjeet Kour and Joginder Singh.
