Jammu: Bharatiya Janta Party manifesto committee will lure the voters with the promise to rechristen the state of Jammu and Kashmir as State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, if voted to power.
Since the party is banking heavily on the party support base in Ladakh region it is expecting to reap rich dividends in the assembly polls. BJP for the first time had won Lok Sabha seat in Ladakh in the parliamentary elections held in May this year.
According to senior leaders of the party BJP is also going to propose state subject status for the children of daughters of the state married outside the state to a non-state subject.
BJP has also decided to include the core issue of abrogation of Article 370, which accords a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, in its electoral manifesto.
The BJP is also expected to include the emotive issue of doing away with two flags in the state, proposing state holiday on October 26, which is celebrated as Accession Day in its party manifesto, sources said.
According to party sources, “Blue print of the electoral manifesto came up for discussion in a high level meeting of the manifesto draft committee here at party headquarters on Wednesday and the same was expected to be made public in the coming days.”
