JK Public School Panjtirthi celebrates Basant Panchmi

JAMMU: Basant Panchmi marks the beginning of the spring season. The festival of spring was traditionally celebrated with full vivacity, devotion and joy at JK Public School (JKPS)Panjtirthi.
Basant Panchami is also celebrated as the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, who symbolises knowledge, wisdom, purity and truth.
On this occasion, Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi, Suman Banbah wished, “May the Today’s revered occasion bring the wealth of knowledge to you all. May you all be blessed by Goddess Saraswati always.”
She added, “Celebrating Basant Panchami with jakiians will help them to understand the significance of changes that occur in different seasons. This will further help them to accept and welcome the changes in their life, with enthusiasm and confidence.”
The Saraswati Vandana marked the commencement of the celebration.
The participants were dressed up in yellow attire to seek Maa Saraswati’s blessings and sang Saraswati Vandana melodiously.
Suman Bala, the celebration incharge talked about the significance and the beliefs behind the aforesaid celebration.
The jakiians unfurled the ebullience of the day by presenting a skit highlighting that the festival of Basant Panchami is associated with yellow colour, a colour of spirituality.
Jakiians revealed that the yellow colour holds a special meaning for this celebration, as it signifies bright yellow sunshine, brilliance of nature and the vibrancy of life.
Jakiians further explained, “During this season, the fields in the countryside, especially the rural areas of Punjab, are brightened with yellow colour of mustard crop, which adds to the spirit of the festival.”
A Basant Queen contest for the staff members was held. The staff members decked up in yellow attires flaunted their moves during a ramp walk.
The Principal was amazed and beaming with pride to see the maximum participation of the teachers in the contest.
It was a very tough competition and the Principal faced hard time to select the Basant queen. So, she changed her mind and said that the contest would be on “Beauty and Brain”.
Keeping this in mind, she put up five questions to the best five contestants and awarded them accordingly.
The Principal crowned Neha Gupta as the Basant Queen and Payal Gupta as the 1st runner up.
Sneha Mattoo won the title of second runner up Sonika Sharma got the third runner up position and Meenu was declared as the fifth runner up.
