JAMMU: The students of Grade XI at JK Public School Kunjwani avail the privilege of attending an inspiring and informative session conducted by Major Himanshu, an officer of the Indian Army from Artillery. The event was organized in the school Multi-purpose Hall with the objective of providing students with insights into a career in the armed forces and encouraging them to consider this honorable profession.
Major Himanshu began his address by sharing his personal journey, detailing the challenges and rewards of serving in the armed forces. He emphasized the importance of discipline, resilience, and patriotism, which form the core values of military life. Through engaging anecdotes and real-life examples, he highlighted the diverse roles and opportunities available in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The session also covered the various entry points into the armed forces, including the National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services (CDS), and Technical Entry Scheme (TES). Major Himanshu provided practical guidance on eligibility criteria, selection processes, and preparation strategies for these competitive exams.
The officer highlighted the importance of NDA Khadakwasla as one of the most renowned Defence Training Institutes across the globe. It is spread over 7015 acres of land & claims to have all the sports disciplines alongwith the world class facilities. Highly trained instructors of the Academy transform all the cadets into potential soldiers. After a successful completion of 3 year training at NDA Khadakwasla, cadets move to their next destination at one of the following three academies, namely, Indian Military Academy Dehradun, Uttarakhand; Indian Air Force Academy, Dindigul Hyderabad, Telangana & Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kannur district, Kerala.
Students were particularly inspired by his discussion of the leadership skills, physical fitness, and mental toughness required in the armed forces. He also spoke about the immense sense of pride and fulfillment that comes from serving the nation and safeguarding its sovereignty.
The interactive session concluded with a lively Q&A round, where students posed questions about career prospects, work-life balance, and life in the armed forces. Major Himanshu patiently addressed their queries, leaving them motivated and informed.
Principal JK Public School, Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore expressed gratitude towards the Indian Army and Major Himanshu for taking this educative and inspiring initiative. He also shared his unforgettable experiences pertaining to Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School Lucknow, where from he started his teaching career. With a great sense of pride he shared that his 56 cadets have reached the rank of Colonel & have been commanding their units; more than 50 cadets are with para-military forces (BSF, CISF, CRPF & ITBP) serving as Commandants, 2ICs or Dy. Commandants & 17 are with SPG, NSG, PARA SF, Cobra Commandos. He also shared about Param Veer Chakra recipient cadet from his school Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey.
The event was a resounding success, instilling a sense of patriotism and enthusiasm among the students. It served as a valuable platform for young minds to explore the noble path of serving the nation through the armed forces.
