JK Public School Kunjwani observes World Cancer Day

JAMMU: JK Public School, Kunjwani organised an awareness assembly on the occasion of World Cancer Day, observed on 4 February, to sensitise students about cancer and the importance of prevention, early detection, and a positive mindset. Cancer, a disease often feared even by its name, creates horror in people’s minds. Though it is not always incurable, its treatment is often not affordable for everyone, making awareness and prevention extremely important. The assembly witnessed active participation from students, who spoke thoughtfully about the causes of cancer, such as unhealthy lifestyle habits, tobacco consumption, pollution and lack of physical activity.

They also highlighted various preventive measures, including maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, avoiding harmful substances, and undergoing timely medical check-ups.
Special emphasis was laid on the role of positivity, mental strength, and hope in fighting the disease. Through meaningful speeches, students conveyed that courage and optimism play a vital role in overcoming challenges. One student aptly remarked, “Cancer is one chapter of life, not the whole life,” which left a deep and lasting impression on the audience. Inderjeet Kaur, Vice Principal, JK Public School addressed the gathering and stressed the need for students to be aware of cancer and the significance of World Cancer Day. She encouraged them to adopt preventive measures and inculcate healthy habits at an early stage, highlighting that awareness, discipline, and positivity can help build a stronger and healthier society.
