JK Public School Kunjwani hosts Shamia Memorial Basketball U-17 Girls Championship 2024-25

JAMMU: JK Public School, Kunjwani hosted the highly acclaimed ‘Shamia Memorial Basketball U-17 Girls Competition 2024-25’ on Wednesday, October 9th. This tournament honours the legacy of Shamia, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and excellence among young athletes.
The Chief Guests for the event were Siddharth Daluja and Gautam Daluja, members of management JK Educational Society and the Guest of honour was Yusaf Chaudhary, father of Late Shamia Choudhary. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Director JK Educational Society Shashi Chaudhary, Principal JK Public School Rajesh Rathore, Vice Principal Rupinder Kaur, School Coordinator Inderjeet Kaur and Primary Wing Coordinator Anju Raj.
As the day unfolded, the School’s basketball court became the battleground for an exhilarating display of skill, athleticism, and team spirit . The court came alive with fast-paced action and fierce competition, captivating spectators and participants alike. The participating teams from the top-notched CBSE schools, introduced and kicked off the action-packed matches.
The first match was played between Wazir Jankinath School and JK Public School Kunjwani, whereas the other match was played between Birla Open Minds International School and APS Jammu Cantt.
Organized by the Sports Department of JKPS Kunjwani, the event aimed to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the schools while providing a platform for students to showcase their basketball prowess.
With the sun high in the sky and the excitement palpable in the air, the stage was set for a thrilling showdown. From precision passes to lightning-fast dribbling and gravity-defying dunks, the players left no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
The final match was played between JK Public School Kunjwani and APS Jammu Cantt, which showcased the pinnacle of talent and hard work, demonstrated by the young athletes. After the final match, the stage was shifted to the Prize Distribution Ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the players. The proud winner of the tournament was JK Public School Kunjwani.
The main highlight of the event was the Shamia Memorial Basketball Rolling Trophy, a symbol of excellence and determination which was presented by Yusaf Chaudhary, father of Shamia, to the winning team JK Public School.
Later, Gautam Daluja, a worthy member of management and Yusaf Chaudhary, the Guest of honour felicitated the referees, namely, Sunil Yadav, Rahil Singh and Manoj Solanki, whose expertise ensured fair competition.
Director, Shashi Choudhary also presented plants as a token of gratitude to Sidharth Daluja, Gautam Daluja and Yusaf Chaudhary for sparing their valuable time to grace the event.
As the event drew to a close, Anju Raj, Coordinator Primary wing, delivered a warm and heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all involved in making the event a success.
Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore appreciated the basketball Coach Manoj Solanki along with Subash Chander, HOD Sports and his teammates. He lauded the skills, manoeuvres and sportsmanship of players for putting up a great show.
The day concluded with the National Anthem marking the end of a momentous occasion.
