JAMMU: JK MUN 2023-24 witnessed the congregation of the MUNers from the top schools from the City to simulate the United Nations and discuss various agendas in multiple Committees.
JK MUN is an effort that has been initiated by JK Public School Kunjwani to make the students aware of the fast-changing geo-politics, social and environmental scenarios.
More than 200 delegates from top notched CBSE schools across Jammu, RS Pura, BD Bari and Udhampur are attending this three-day JK MUN, which is a unique platform of the students, for the students, and by the students.
Apart from debates, discussions and diplomacy, this platform is committed to provide an opportunity to the students from diverse cultural backgrounds to create life-long camaraderie and friendships.
The inaugural ceremony of JK MUN started with full enthusiasm in the Nelsum Exquisite Millennium Hall of JK Public School.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof B.S Sahay, Founder Director of Jammu IIM .The ceremony began with the lighting of sacred lamp. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Chairman JK Educational Society Raj Daluja, Director Shashi Choudhary, Principal Rajesh Rathore, Vice Principal Roopinder Kour and School Coordinator Inderjeet Kour.
Director JK Educational Society, Shashi Chaudhary extended a very warm welcome to the distinguished invitees, escort teachers and brilliant MUN enthusiasts. She highlighted the salient features of this debate format, which broadens the perception of participants and provide them with a creative platform to showcase their inherent as well as acquired skills.
It was followed by the School Song. The School Choir mesmerized everyone by singing a patriotic song in their soulful voice.
Amidst thunderous applause, the Chief Guest handed over the gavels to the Chairpersons of various Committees.
While addressing the gathering, Prof BS Sahay reflected, “This world belongs to our youngsters. They are determined, dedicated, go getters and believe in exploring possibilities as per their potential and aptitude. As MUN stands for the simulation of UN proceedings pertaining to various UN agencies, so credit goes to these MUN enthusiasts for collecting relevant data, analysing perspectives and arriving at solutions.”
He invoked students to think big to achieve big in life. He asked them to visit the campuses of premier institution, like, IIM Jammu, IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu.
Mustafa Ganai, the Director General of JK MUN gave the opening speech. Since it is a student-driven activity, all the students worked diligently to make it a successful event under the mentorship of the Principal Rajesh Rathore.
The 3-day MUN Session will witness rounds of vigorous debates, discussions and diplomacy across all Committees and will conclude with a very elaborate prize giving ceremony.
The ceremony on first day of the session culminated with the address of the Secretary General, which was followed by the group photograph and Ice-breaking sessions in the Committee venues.
