JAMMU: JK Public School, Kunjwani, resonated with devotional hymns and spiritual warmth as the school community observed the 555th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism and a beacon of peace, compassion, and equality. The celebration was held in the school’s Assembly area on Tuesday and witnessed an inspiring participation of students and staff.
Present on the occasion were Shashi Chaudhary, Director JK Educational Society; Rajesh Rathore, Principal, JK Public School, Kunjwani, VP Roopinder Kaur; School Coordinator Inderjeet Kour; Academic Coordinator Parvinder Kour; Primary Wing Coordinator Anju Raj, Toddler Wing Coordinator Shivangani Pangotra alongwith teachers and students.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Mool Mantra by Karamdeep, invoking divine blessings and setting a serene tone for the morning. This was followed by a presentation on the Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by Karman, who eloquently spoke about the Guru’s message of truthfulness, humility, and universal brotherhood.
The atmosphere grew spiritually vibrant with a soulful Shabad Kirtan presented by the school choir. Their melodious voices filled the air with devotion, reminding everyone of the Guru’s timeless wisdom – that service to humanity is the truest form of worship.
Harnoor presented a heartfelt poem titled “Mera Baba Nanak,” which beautifully captured the essence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s divine grace and simplicity. The celebration also included a lively and enlightening quiz conducted by Shayna and Rudrakshi, which tested the students’ knowledge about the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The interactive session kept the audience engaged and deepened their understanding of Sikh heritage.
The celebration concluded with an address by the School Coordinator Inderjeet Kaur, who appreciated the efforts of the students and highlighted the importance of carrying Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s values of truth, kindness, and equality into everyday life. The National Anthem was sung with pride, followed by a group photograph, capturing the spirit of unity and reverence that marked the occasion.
The entire event was a seamless blend of devotion, learning, and cultural expression. It reinforced the belief that Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings continue to illuminate humanity’s path even after five centuries, urging all to live with compassion, integrity, and service to others.
