JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday lifted the 25th State Football Championship trophy outplaying District Football Association (DFA) Srinagar two goals to nil in the title clash that took place at GGM Science College Ground, here.
By taking early lead in the very fifth minute of the game through Asif, J and K Police dominated the fields throughout spring little chance for the DFA Srinagar to recover from early loss.
The lead was further improved by J and K Police netting the ball again through Asif in the second half of the play.
Since it was Silver Jubilee (25th) event of the State Championship, the organisers, J and K Football Association (JKFA), honoured international football players of the State including Ishfaq Ahmed, M.S Nari, Dr Nirmolak Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Amanjot Singh and Romesh Chamder.
In the final and valedictory function of the State Championship, Director General of J and K Police (DGP), Dr S.P Vaid was Chief Guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
The ADGP Armed, L Mohanti was Guest of Honour. A host of other senior police officers and office bearers of the JKFA were among those prominent present in the prize distribution function.
