Inaugurates 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 (Men & Women), at Srinagar.
The Lt Governor welcomed and extended his best wishes to all the sportspersons, organizers and sports enthusiasts for a very successful and memorable championship.
He congratulated the J&K Police for hosting the prestigious tournament and lauded its significant contribution in promoting sports and the holistic development of youth.
Over the last two decades, besides maintaining public order and tackling insurgency, the J&K Police has made a landmark as a host, for organizing 17 prestigious and high-profile All India Police Championships in a professional manner, the Lt Governor said.
“Sports, and in particular, water Sports, embody the spirit of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. These qualities resonate with the principles that our law enforcement agencies uphold in their duty to safeguard our communities. The lessons learned during the competitions are a testament to the values that shape our professional lives,” he said.
I am confident the visiting players and team members will enjoy the warm hospitality and magnificent sights of Jammu Kashmir and return as a brand ambassador of UT of Jammu Kashmir, the Lt Governor further added.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor also paid homage to the brave hearts of Police and security forces for their selfless service to the nation.
A total of 30 teams (20 Men & 10 Women) comprising about 500 players and 60 Technical officials, Team Managers are participating in the tournament.
RR Swain, DGP; Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Armed, Law & Order, Aftab Malik, Chairman, District Development Council Srinagar, senior officials of Police, Security Forces and UT administration, eminent sportspersons and sports enthusiasts were present at the inaugural ceremony.
