JAMMU: To empower women folk on digitization and financial literacy, Jammu and Kashmir Nari Shakti unit on Saturday organised a day long awareness seminar here at Keshav Bhawan. Mahila Samanvaye collaborated with the Nari Shakti to organize the seminar.
Director, DIQA and Rector, Kathua Campus, Prof Meenakshi Kilam was the special guest on the occasion and was flanked by Kamal Sisodia, Commandant CRPF, Dr Garima Kohli and Disha Mamgain as resource persons whereas more than 100 women from different fields attended the seminar.
President Nari Shakti, Jammu and Kashmir Mamta Singh welcoming the guests congratulated the audience and introduced the theme expressing the necessity to bring women into the digital ambit lest she is left out of financial decisions of family and society.
In the technical session, Dr Garima Kohli impressed upon the participants to recognize the value and need of understanding the use of technology in day to day lives.
She explained through various examples that in the absence of technological awareness how women empowerment is unthinkable in the current times.
CRPF Commandant, Kamal Sisodia motivated the women towards nation building and their contribution in country’s development.
In another technical session by Disha Mamgain, Senior Payment Analyst, Bank of America.
Through Powe point she presented the need of application of technology and digitization in the present financial and banking sector.
The banker impressed upon the participants to adopt to e-banking modes and thus establish gender equity vis-a-vis financial matters too.
In her remarks, Prof Meenakshi Kilam lauded the efforts of Nari Shakti and Mahila Samanvaye for selecting the most apt topic to commemorate International Women’s Day.
She highlighted the rising utility of technology, innovation and digitization, especially in the post covid times.
As such under the given situation, if parity between the two genders has to be achieved, then equal participation of women in e-banking and e-learning is essential.
Presently, financial literacy is inseparable from digitization, hence, it is high time for women to accept and acknowledge digital trends and techniques.
