JAMMU: The J&K Junior National Men’s Hockey Team was selected on Sunday at the KK Hakku Hockey Stadium in Jammu to participate in the 14th Hockey India Junior National Championship (Men), scheduled to take place in Jalandhar, Punjab, from September 9 to 19, 2024.
The selection process took place under the guidance of DIG Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma, and was facilitated by members of Hockey J&K, including Gurpreet Singh (Vice President), Supinder Deep Singh Bakshi (General Secretary), Karanbir Singh (Secretary), Ishan Sharma (Treasurer), and Daljeet Singh (Executive Member).
Additionally, Rajinder Singh (Former President Hockey India) and G.S. Bakshi (Former Secretary General Hockey J&K) lent their expertise to the process, along with Adv. Manmohit Singh Kahlon from the J&K High Court. Officials from the Sports Council were also present.
The selected team comprises young talents namely Maheshwar Sharma, Kunal, Pranveer Singh, Vanshu Mangotra, Krish Raina, Jotveer Singh, Avneet Singh, Tejpal Singh, Gamanpreet Singh, Arunpreet Singh, Zahid Shabir, Jagmeet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Masoom Ahmad, Damandeep Singh, Taranjot Singh, Malkit Singh, and Karandeep Singh.
The achievement is a significant milestone for hockey in J&K, and the team is poised for success in their upcoming national championship.
