J&K faces Himachal in first outing on May 8 Hockey J&K to gear up for mega event today

JAMMU: Hosts Hockey Jammu and Kashmir today gave final touch to the preparations for the mega event–Vth Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship starting at K K Hakku Stadium, here on Wednesday.

Though the event shall be declared open by Minister for Sports,  Imraan Raza Ansari at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, the technical committee has decided to hold a couple of matches in the morning session starting at 7:30 AM.

Earlier, the organising committee held a meeting with Working President, S.M Sahai in chair and attended besides others by office bearers of the Hockey J and K.  A meeting of the technical committee also took place wherein umpires and other officials deputed by the Hockey India participated and approved the already drawn fixture.

On being inquired, Sahai told that 10 out of a total of 20 teams, reflecting in the fixture, have already reported to the organisers. Those teams playing their games tomorrow morning had practice sessions.

Meanwhile, the Hockey J and K finalised the state team for the event.  Subsequently, the team was screened by the Screening Committee of the State Sports Council.

The Team: Akshay Sudan, Tarandeep Singh, Simranpal Singh, Parshant Singh Charak, Prabhjot Singh, Navjot Singh, Pawanjot Singh, Suraj Singh Jasrotia, Sushmeet Singh Pathania, Manik Sharma, Ramandeep Singh (captain), Tanishpreet Singh, Ramneek Singh, Sahil Farooq, Manpreet Singh, Gunpreet Singh, Aakash Singh Jasrotia, Vishal Sudan. Officials: Gurjeet Singh, Dalbir Mehta and Satinder Singh (coaches) and Charanjeet Singh (manager).
