SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir are eying vital 1st innings lead against Maharashtra as Ruturaj Gaikwad missed a century and SA Veer scored a magnificent ton on day-3 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 28/1, Maharashtra managed to end the day at 312/6 in 86 overs, still trailing by a big margin of 207 runs from J&K’s massive total of 519 dl in their first innings.
Opening batsman SA Veer who was unbeaten on 13 runs overnight, scored 127 runs off 251 balls studded with 19 boundaries, while skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored splendid 86 runs off 130 balls with 13 fours. AR Bawane (26), NS Naik (21) and Arshin Kulkarni (19*) were the other contributors.


Veer and Gaikwad were brilliant in the middle, making a big partnership of 175 runs between them.
Rasikh Salam, who has got India-A call up for Emerging Asia Cup and Auqib Nabi bagged 2 wickets each, while Yudhvir Singh and Abid Mushtaq claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, in J&K’s big total of 519/7 dl, Shubham Khajuria had scored 255 plus runs while young Shivansh Sharma had scored unbeaten 106 runs.
