J&K employees, pensioners to get hiked DA

JAMMU: The Government on Tuesday announced to pay its employees, pensioners and family pensioners Dearness Allowance (DA) at a hiked rate of 46 per cent, with an increase of four percent to the existing rate of 42 per cent.
As per an order issued by the Finance Department, in continuation to Government Order No 93-F and 94-F of 2023 dated May 4, 2023, the government employees working in regular pay levels under 7th Pay Commission recommendations and Pensioners/Family Pensioners, will be paid Dearness Allowance at a revised rate of 46 percent of Basic Pay/Pension/Family Pension from the existing 42 percent of Basic Pay/Pension/Family Pension rate with effect from July 1, 2023.
“The term ‘Basic Pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay Matrix as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations, but does not include any other type of pay like special pay etc,” the order said.
“The arrears on account of additional installment of Dearness Allowance from July, 2023 to November, 2023 shall be credited in GPF accounts in respect of employees appointed prior to January 1, 2010 and paid in cash in respect of NPS employees. The revised Dearness Allowance shall form part of monthly salary from December, 2023,” it added.
“The payment of Dearness Allowance involving a fraction of 50 paisa and above shall be rounded to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paisa shall be ignored,” it added.
A separate order mentioned that the government pensioners or family pensioners would be paid Dearness Allowance at a revised rate i.e., 46 percent of Basic Pension or Basic Family Pension from the existing rate of 42 percent per month.
The arrears on account of additional installment of Dearness Allowance with effect from July 2023 to November, 2023 shall be paid in cash to government pensioners or family pensioners in the month of December, 2023 and would form part of pension and family pension from December, 2023 onwards.
“Other provisions governing the grant of Dearness Allowance on pension and family pension such as the regulations of Dearness Allowance during employment or re-employment, where more than one pension is drawn etc. and other provisions of the existing rules or orders (as are not in conflict with provisions of this order), shall continue to remain in force,” it was further ordered.
