JAMMU: J and K boys’ team on Saturday qualified for the knock-out stages of quarterfinals in the 23rd Mini National Volleyball Championship underway at Erode in Tamil Nadu. The event is hosted by Volleyball Association of Tamil Nadu under the aegis of Volleyball Federation of India.
Before reaching the quarterfinals, being number two team from group-B, J and K boys lost to last year’s runners-up team, Uttar Pradesh in a nect to neck contest. The score being 18-25, 17-25, 22-25, reports reaching here said. From J and K, Imtiyas, Amaar, Murtaz and Gurmeet Kumar displayed exceptional skills throughout the game.
Now, the J and K has uphill task in hand when they take on the defending champion, Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, the girls’ team from the State continued with dismal performance and lost their game against Kerela (08-25, 11-25, 15-25) today.
The boys team is being guided by Mohd. Tariq (Qualified Coach) and Subash Shastri (Manager) while in girls team Balwinder Singh Jamwal are working as Coach and Neelam Sharma as Manager.
The players and officials deployed from J and K State are leaving no stone unturned in holding the head high of the State in the arena of volleyball game in this National Championship.
Official accompanying the teams have hailed the sincere efforts of office bearers of Volleyball Association of J and K for extending their untiring contribution in achieving the present distinction at national level in the field of volleyball.
