JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said that government is taking requisite steps to upgrade sports infrastructure in the State and several initiatives have already been taken in this regard.
He said special focus is being given to upgrade the existing sports infrastructure so that our youth can channelise their energy in positive direction.
Dr Nirmal Singh said this during the prize distribution ceremony of B-Division Football Tournament organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, Jammu District at Mini Stadium Parade Ground, here. MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, in the final played today J&K Bank Academy outplayed Shaheen Football Club by 3-0. Deputy Chief Minister also distributed prizes among the winning and runners up teams.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Singh said that there is ample talent in our youth which needs to be explored and nurtured in the right direction. He further said that every effort is being taken for development and promotion of Sports activities and providing suitable platform for the youth of State to exhibit their talent.
Deputy Chief Minister asked the youth to stay away from drug addiction and other social vices. Speaking on the importance of sportsman spirit, Dr Singh exhorted upon the youth that it will not only help them on the field but also in other aspects of their life adding that sports play a vital role in all round development of one’s personality .
Among others, President JKFA District Jammu, Kuldeep Singh, Secretary JKFA District Jammu Mohan Lal, other members, prominent citizens and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
