Jitendra conferred Honourary Doctorate by Amity University

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh being conferred Honorary Doctorate by Amity University at a special convocation held as a rare gesture, at NOIDA (NCR).

NOIDA: At a special convocation held as a rare gesture, the Amity University on Wednesday conferred on Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, the degree of Honourary Doctorate in recognition to his lifetime achievements in the field of academics, research and public life.
At a glittering ceremony held in the Court Hall of the University, Dr Jitendra Singh was awarded the Degree of Doctorate of Science (D.Sc.) in the presence of the Founder President and Chairman of Amity Group, Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Chancellor Amity University Dr Atul Chauhan, Chief Adviser Amity University Dr Ajit Nagpal, Vice Chancellor and other senior members of the faculty.
The citation described Dr Jitendra Singh as an author of eight books and three monograms on various aspects of Diabetes. He has written chapters on Diabetes in leading text books of Medicine and before becoming a Minister, he consecutively wrote a chapter on Diabetes in twelve successive editions of the prestigious “API Textbook of Medicine” published by the Association of Physicians of India.
Among the Diabetes awareness books written by Dr Jitendra Singh, one of the books titled ‘Diabetes Made Easy’ was included in the Best-seller section of the World Book Fare held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledged the recognition offered by Amity University, which is the first-of-its-kind International University originating from India.
He said, from the emphasis on enhancing availability of education at the time of independence, today the focus is on quality education and to this objective, the Amity has distinguished itself with its alumni spread across the globe and earning laurels in different areas of work.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the present generation of students is fortunate because it has the opportunity to be a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “New India” mission and they have all the advantages on their side to contribute to the ascent of India as a global power so that, later in life, they can tell their children with pride that they were also among the architects of Modi’s ‘New India’.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Amity, Dr Ashok Chauhan pointed out that the Amity Group of Universities has, on date, nearly two lakh students studying in various streams and the University Campuses are spread all over the world, including London, Singapore, Dubai and other places, while within India also, they have their presence in different States including Bihar, Haryana and Jharkhand, while the next new Amity Campus is ready to be set up shortly in Guwahati, Assam.
Dr Jitendra Singh’s name for the award of Honourary Doctorate, according to Dr Chauhan, was selected after considerable deliberation along with the other name of Noble Laureate Dr Takaaki Kajita from Japan.
