JAMMU: The Crime Branch wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday registered an FIR against Junior Engineer (JE) of Public Works Department, for faxing and drafting a fake and fraudulent letter, purportedly signed by Deputy Chief Minister, to get himself transferred.
According to the SSP Crime Mubassir Latifi. a communication bearing No. SEU/camp/2016-17/2810-12 dated July 15, 2016, by A K Gandotra, Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Reasi-Udhampur Circle H.Q Udhampur along with two enclosures i.e. the communication No. 1245 dated July 5, 2016 of Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Udhampur and a photocopy of the letter, were received in Crime Branch, wherein it was stated that Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Udhampur had received a fax message in his office purportedly signed by the Deputy Chief Minister regarding transfer and posting of one Som Nath Sharma, Junior Engineer from PWD (R&B) Division Udhampur to Sub-Division Majalta.
However, on verification it was found that no such message was issued or faxed by the Deputy Chief Minister.
During the investigation, it was found that the fake and fraudulent message was prepared and faxed, deliberately and intentionally by the beneficiary Junior Engineer, Som Nath Sharma in order to cheat and get himself transferred by using the name of Deputy Chief Minister to influence the officers. “The omissions and commission therefore, on the part of Som Nath Sharma, JE PWD (R&B) Division Udhampur, prima facie, constitute offences punishable under Section 420,465,467,468,471 RPC”, the CB stated, adding that a formal case was registered and investigation set in motion.
