JAMMU: Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has intensified the anti encroachment drive and started fencing land belonging to the authority. Besides, as per decision taken in a high level meeting the revenue department has already started the process of demarcation of aforesaid land and handing over the same to JDA for fencing.
Recently a meeting of Senior Officers of Revenue, Police and other Departments was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh wherein it was decided that the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu and Samba shall demarcate the state land within the jurisdiction of JDA and the same shall be handed over to JDA within month’s time. Accordingly the team of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu has handed over approximately 500 Kanals of land falling in Khasra Nos. 60, 61 and 62 at village Deeli to Jammu Development Authority. The exercise for the demarcation of land has taken up by a team of officers/officials constituted by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh and the Revenue officers headed by Sub Division Magistrate South has handed over the land to Director Land Management of JDA in the said village and the JDA has covered this entire chunk of land with barbed wire fencing. The Deputy Chief Minister had directed that the process of demarcation of all lands falling under jurisdiction of JDA shall be carried out jointly by the teams of officials of Revenue Department and the JDA and the lands after proper demarcation shall be formally handed over and taken over by JDA within shortest time.
The local public of the area has appreciated the move of Deputy Chief Minister and JDA for taking over of this vast chunk of land, as the encroachers were making efforts to occupy and sell the land illegally. The Jammu Development Authority shall utilise this chunk of land for developing a residential colony and allotting some portion of land to Government Departments where from the indents for allotment of land are pending.
The Vice Chairman, JDA informed that the similar process has also been initiated in other villages like Sidhra, Nagrota and Kot Bhalwal with revenue Department and handing over of the land in these villages is also expected shortly and such lands will also be used for allotment of residential plots and to various departments for establishing their offices.
