JAMMU: Jammu Bachao Andolan (JBA) on Saturday lodged strong protest against the illegal settlement of foreign nationals in Jammu and its outskirts.
Led by Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Convener of the Movement, the protesters assembled at Narwal Chowk and raised slogans against the government.
While addressing the protestors, Vikram said that the presence of the Rohingyas, Bangladeshis is a threat to the life and property of the local residents. He said that for the last over 10 to 12 years the strength of these people is continuously increasing adding it is a deep rooted conspiracy to damage the demography of the Jammu region. Not only this, these people are being funded and supported by few people who are behind the settlement in Jammu, Vikram added.
Vikram urged upon the government that a probe be conducted to ascertain the facts behind the settlement of these people in the region as their presence is a conspiracy to change the demography. He also alleged that these illegal foreigners possess Aadhaar cards and asked the government to check who managed these cards for them following which they are now showing their identity as Indians rather than Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.
Vikram warned of more strong protest demonstrations against these people in the days to come and said that this movement will be expedited until these illegal immigrants are sent back. He urged upon the Jammuites to join this movement as it is not a political movement but a genuine cause for the betterment of the Jammuites.
Those who participated in the protest include Tarun Sharma, Dheeraj Singh, Amit Gupta, Beli Ram Bhagat, S. Dalbir Singh, Liaqat Ali, Sadiq Hussain, Surat Singh, Sharda Devi and Gaurav Kumar.
