Jaswinder, Jai Kumar emerge best players; J&K Police bags overall trophy in athletics

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police clinched the overall championship trophy securing highest points in the four-day 12th State Athletics Championship held under the banner of J and K Athletics Association at BSF Stadium, Paloura, here on Thursday.
The best athlete title went to police athletes, Jaswinder Kour and Jai Kumar in women and men sections respectively.
Earlier, the concluding day witnessed under-14 girls sprint event wherein Damini Sharma emerged the fastest athlete. Ambika Fayaz and Jessica Kour remained second and third respectively.
In the valedictory function, Inspector General of Police (Armed), Mukesh Singh was Chief Guest, who gave away title trophies and medals to the winners of today’s events.
President of J and K Olympic Association, Rangil Singh was Special Guest. Also present were Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Dushyant Sharma, Dr Nirmolak Singh, Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom, Kuldip Handoo, Ravinder Singh, Vikas Gupta, Sharat Chander Singh, Tulal Ahmed, Ajay Sharma, Sports Officer BSF, Sarwatn Singh and H.S Chib.
The results: MEN: 200 mts: Jai Kumar, Ist; Krishna, 2nd and Amrish Sharma, 3rd. 4×400 mts Relay: J and K Police (Amrish Sharma, Zubair Ahmed, Danish Jusuf and Ramesh Singh), Ist; Jammu district (Balvinder Singh, Vishal Singh, Akash Soodan and Daleep Sharma), 2nd; Sukhvir Singh, Vishal Kaith, Rajat Saini and Abhinash Singh), 3rd.
WOMEN: 100 mts U-16: Alisha Slathia, Ist; Amrin Fatima, 2nd and Amaria Fayaz, 3rd. Shot Put U-14: Amriah, Ist; Jessica, 2nd and Damini Sharma, 3rd. 200 mts: Damini Sharma, Ist; Ambika Fayaz, 2nd and Kalpana, 3rd. 200 mts U-16: Jaspreet Kaur, Ist; Sakshi Chowhan, 2nd and Monika Bisht, 3rd. Long Jump U-16: Alisha, Ist; Sakshi, 2nd and Monika, 3rd.
