Jammu’s Ridhiman Sharma shines in CBSE National Fencing Championship, wins silver

JAMMU: Ridhiman Sharma, an upcoming young Epee fencer from KC International School, Jammu, brought laurels to the Union Territory by clinching the silver medal in the 1st CBSE National Fencing Championship 2025-26 held at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

Competing against a strong field of 61 fencers from across the country, Ridhiman showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament. His most thrilling performance came in the semi-final bout, where he edged past his opponent in a nail-biting finish with a score of 15-14, earning a spot in the finals.

In the championship clash, Ridhiman put up a spirited fight but went down against a strong contender from Punjab with a scoreline of 15-11, settling for the prestigious silver medal.

A trainee of JU Fencing Academy under the guidance of NIS qualified coach Bhisham Salathia, Ridhiman’s achievement has been widely appreciated by the fencing fraternity in J&K. His success is being seen as a promising sign for the growth of fencing in the region.

School authorities, coaches, and fellow fencers hailed his remarkable feat, expressing confidence that the young talent will continue to bring more glory to J&K and the nation in the future.
