KATRA: Wrestler Maam Hussian of Jammu lifted 73 Pansa Dangal title by defeating wrestler Babba of Kot Bhawal Jammu, Akhara Domana in the 1st main bout that lasted for 15 minutes at Village Panasa in Tehsil and District Reasi. Wrestler Maam Hussain was adjudged as the best wrestler of the Dangal which was organized by Panasa Dangal committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision Ashok Kumar Bali (President), Munshi Ram Bali and Sarpanch Bal Krishan.
The title winner wrestler Maam Hussain was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 7,000/- while runner-up wrestler Babba got Rs. 6,000/-. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, was the cheif guest on the occasion who distributed cash prize among the winners and runner-up wrestlers. Social activist Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu) was the Guest of Honour. ASI Mangal Singh was also special guest on the occasion.
In all 92 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal and an expenditure of Rs. 2,00,000 has been incurred for conduct of this Dangal. Sohan Singh Thakur contributed Rs. 11,000 as financial assistance to the organizers. Second main bout was fought between Surjeet Singh of J&K Police Reasi and Raju of Kangra and was won by Surjeet Singh he was cash awarded with Rs. 6,000 while runner-up wrestler Raju got Rs. 5,000. Third bout was won by Kaka of R.S Pura who defeated Ajay Sharma of Udhampur. Dangal was organized under the supervision of organizing committee including Ashok Kumar Bali (President), Sarpanch Bal Krishan, Munshi Ram Bali, Shiv Natraj, Mohd. Saleem, Abdul Rashid, Om Parkash, Numberdar Raghunath Singh, Harnam Singh, Master Jagdev Raj, Kuldeep Singh, Bunty Mistry and Retd. Capt. Lehar Singh.
The proceedings of Dangal were conducted by Munshi Ram Bali and Anil Kumar while welcome address was presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Kreeda Bharati J&K. Sharma thanked the Police Department, media person, guests, wrestlers and people who witnessed the Dangal.
He assured that the association will give every possible help for the development and promotion of wrestling in J&K UT.
Other results: Sunil of Kot Bhawal beat Dinesh of Delhi, Amit of R.S Pura beat Pritam of Reasi, Salman of Udhampur beat Sethi of R.S Pura, bouts played between Rajesh of J&K Police and Chain Singh of Reasi, Bablu J&K Police and Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal and Madan Lal and Sanjay of Pargal ended in a draw.
