SAMBA: Jammu District won the inaugural match of inter-district divisional level under-14 boys’ cricket tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Sports Stadium, here.
In the opening match, Jammu trounced district Udhampur by six wickets. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Udhampur made 61 runs losing all their wickets in 20 overs game. Udhay Partap and Aditya contributed 14 and 12 runs respectively. From Jammu District, Arian Sharma and Yuvraj Singh took two wickets each while Dhruv bowled an economical spell of five for one in four overs.
In a reply, Jammu achieved the target of 62 runs in 16.4 overs losing four wickets . Aditya and Dhruv were top scorers with 17 and 16 runs in their respective accounts.
Today’s match was officiated by the technical panel comprising of Anirudh Singh Slathia, Sandeep Singh, Rajinder Singh, Chander Parkash Sharma, Bopinder Singh, Danraj Singh and Keshav Singh.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister for Industries and Commerce, who also showered his blessings on the young kids and wished them for top performance.
Players from Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Poonch, Ramban and Jammu are taking part in the tournament which is being organised under the supervision Shubash Chander Bhadrwaj, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Samba.
Other dignitaries present were Additional SP Samba, Raja Hamid, Dy SP Samba, Virinder Singh, BJP District President Yangveer Singh Chicku and senior BJP leader Sanjeev Padha.
