JAMMU: Jammu Superstars trounced Jammu Superkings by 43 runs in an exhibition JKP Twenty20 match for orphaned/destitute children held at Parade Ground, here on Friday.
The match was conducted under Civic Action Programme under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta by involving cricketers from Balgran SOS Channi Rama Jammu.
Earlier, in summit clash, Jammu Superstars won the toss and elected to bat first scored 175 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 15 overs. Arvinder Singh (74), Aman (49) and Ravinder (35) were main contributors to the score. For Jammu Superkings, Bablu took two wickets while Vikas took one.
In reply, Jammu Superkings could not achieve the target and was bundled out for 132 runs in 14 overs. Bablu played a fine innings of 26 runs, while Vikas and Mohd Rafi contributed 23 and 12 runs respectively. For Jammu Superstars, Aman, Sanjay and Ajay shared two wickets each while Arvinder secured one wicket. Arvinder was adjudged Man of the Match.
The match was officiated by Vinod and Sanju as Umpires while Ajay maintained the score.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters, Ramesh Kotwal was Chief Guest in the valedictory function. He was accompanied by Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Gill and R.P Singh.
The main objective of holding today’s exhibition match was to provide disabled youth a platform to excel and further motivate them toward sports and fitness, informed Coordinator of the Event, Rajesh.
The members of the Organising Committee included Vinod Kumar (SP City), Vivek Shekar (DySP City) and R.P Singh.
